197.4 pounds….which is 1.4 pounds less then what the scale read a week ago.
When I got dressed for work today, I wore pants that required a belt. Now I had not worn my belt for a week so I was pleasantly surprised when I could use the third hole in the belt today. I had been only able to squeeze into the 2nd hole before. So I was happy about the way my day was starting off.
I have been skipping ice cream at lunch every day for the last week. I have also drank a lot less soda at work. I have tried to free myself of some many carbs but those blueberry muffins at breakfast are to good to pass up completely.
I have just recently started taking a few supplements again. I stopped taking them 6 months ago and figured my body needed them again. I forgot to buy the fish oil & potassium tablets, when I went to Walmart last week, so I will just have to order them online.
I also haven’t had much trouble with heartburn, this week. I really hate getting heartburn…it was just an annoying inconvenience that likes to happen when I tried to lie down and get comfy on my bed. Heartburn does not feel very comfy.
Last time I weighed myself around May 30th, while I was living in Vegas. I left my scales in Vegas with a friend when I moved away for a seasonal job. At that time, I weighed 161.
That was almost 6 months ago (25 weeks). Today I went shopping to buy bigger pants because mine were getting to small. I decided to also buy new bathroom scales.
OMG!!! This is the most I have ever weighed. I gave birth to 7 babies and I weigh more now then I did when I was pregnant. My baby is 18 years old with a baby of her own.
How in the Hell could I have gained almost 39 pounds in the last 25 weeks?? That’s more than 1.5 pounds every week. Dr’s and online articles say to lose 1-2 pounds a week if you are going on a diet. Well if it took me 25 weeks to gain 39 pounds, then let’s see if it will take me another 25 weeks to lose it all again.
With to much free time lately, I am enjoying some ebooks that I have downloaded on my tablet. Right now I am enjoying a novel series about a high school foster kid who has to live with a preacher’s family, in some little hick Texas town. The first book was free but seeing as I wanted to continue with the story I had to pay $3.99 for the second book in the series.
I get email notices from different websites every week listing free books.
I am sure I have others lost in my many pages of unread emails, but those are my most recent ones. Some I like for old classic books, some are just trashy fun reads, some are for educational textbooks (on a variety of subjects like health, business/finance stuff, learning the French language), some are for a future DIY project or some “self-help” issue that I want to figure out later on. No matter what you like to read, I am sure there is a website that will let you download books on the subject.
I had an email to get a month’s free trial of kindle unlimited…but I declined it. I figured that I would end up paying the $10 monthly fee after I forget to unsubscribe from it later. I used to subscribe to different free trials for alot of online stuff and then forget when the trials end and get charged later for them, so now I just don’t sign up.
Seeing as it’s still very windy & chilly here, (64 degrees outside now. Never would of imagined Death Valley to get this cold. The Wind is rattling the windows in the dorm), what better way to spend a morning then reading or searching for new books to add to my ebook library. It’s almost time for me to get ready for work…got 3 nights of working the late shift again before I get another weekend off. Which means I will be reading after Midnight.
Normally I don’t like my 2 days off together, I would rather have my days off split up. But there are times managers must think they are doing you a favor by giving you a long weekend….course technically it was 1 day at the end of last week & 2 days at the beginning of this week, but I was still stuck trying to figure out what to do for 3 whole days. Most of my weekend was spent drinking beer alone in my dorm room or sleeping. But Friday morning I did walk around and check out the craft sale. I assume there must have been a golf tournament this last weekend.
There is a group here now called Death Valley 49ers. No they have nothing to do with the sports team. This group has been coming to the national park for the last 66 years, doing a variety of activities here. Originally I think was to promote the history of an older group of pioneers from the late 1840’s. That older group are the ones who named Death Valley National Park.
The Marines lead a parade on Friday. There was also yodeling contests, fiddling, pioneer costume contests, even a pampered pet costume contest, an art show, and a few BBQ’s. I did not go watch any of those events. Kim & Katie went out with friends last night to listen to all the musical stuff that was going on.
Some of the painted gourds that were for sale are above. I did buy 2 shirts and a jar of homemade apple butter. After being here for 2 weeks, they were scheduled to leave November 15th. So thankfully it will be quiet again… And at least the cold wind waited till their last day here.
Seeing as my roomie and I have different days off, she went exploring while I was working. These are her pictures.
All I keep thinking of is some old Bugs Bunny carton that I watched when I was a kid. It was one where Bugs was lost/stranded in the desert and crawling around the sandy ground looking for water. Well I swear that my roomie found that desert area. The above picture was taken in the dunes near Stovepipe Wells in Death Valley..about 1/2 hour away from where we live.
She found a road runner, so why couldn’t she find Bugs Bunny?
Not sure yet where exactly she was when saw this rainbow. I think she was on her way to Pahrump, NV, when she saw it. Yeah I missed out going to Pahrump & St. George this week.
She went with a friend who took this photo. Looks like Kim accomplished some goal or just ready to take on the world. Well all that exploring has made her tired because she was in bed by the time I got home from work. She goes to work early in the morning and I have the next 3 days off.
Went to breakfast this morning. Mushrooms & bell pepper in the scrambled eggs, didn’t really need 2 blueberry muffins but they are sooo good and I always love having some type of fruit…today it’s cantaloupe. Best thing about breakfast and lunch is that they are FREE.
It was almost 70 degrees at 8am today. It will be slightly warmer when I go into work at 2pm. I have heard a rumor that 1 of my new co-workers has put in a transfer to go work @ the Grand Canyon. Guess she isn’t happy here at all. It seems to take a special kind of person to stay here. If she is looking for a single dorm (with no roommates) and more working hours, then she will probably be disappointed with the Grand Canyon also.
Those 2 photos belong to my roommate, Kim. She went hiking around the desert, after work, yesterday and took them with her phone. As you can see, there are miles of desert all around. If you ever need peace & quiet then it’s not hard to find. If you require excitement from a walmart or casino or an amusement park, then of course you are in the wrong place because it isn’t here.
The picture with longer hair was taken yesterday. The shorter hair picture was exactly 1 year ago, wearing the same shirt. Besides the length of hair, I look the same in my opinion. I found a couple short pixie hairstyles I would like to try. I also miss the reddish/auburn color.
I don’t own bathroom scales anymore but I probably weigh a bit more now. I have had to get bigger pants. One cashier noticed the size tags on clothes I bought last month and thought I got them to big. I had to chuckle as I told her thanks but I can’t get my fat ass into anything smaller. I would love to buy smaller pants but I also like buying to much junk food.
I wasn’t able to shop in Pahrump this last week with my roomie, Kim, because she ended up driving a friend to a hospital in St. George, UT for surgery. She ended up being gone 2.5 days. Now 1 of us will have to pick the friend up sometime this next week. I have 3 days off Wednesday -Friday, so I might be the 1 driving to Utah. I have never driven that far, so that will be something new. You better believe that my camera is ready now. The little road trip sounds better then sitting in my dorm for 3 days, with nothing exciting to do.
This is Katie, standing at the lowest point in the USA. 282 feet below sea level. The road to this spot just opened back up a few days ago. Rainstorms had done some damage and closed the road for about 3 weeks.
