A hobby is a regular activity done for enjoyment, typically during one’s free time and not for pay. At some point in life, you’ve likely been told to follow your passions. But what are they — the hobbies we pick up in our spare time, or something more?
A hobby can become a passion, and a passion can become a hobby. The ultimate difference is that a passion is something you can’t live without while a hobby is just to fill your free time.

After all the things I have found on Google and after all the articles I read from so-called experts trying to sell you something to find your passion…but if the definition of passion “is something that you can’t live without”, then I have no passion. Sure I have plenty of hobbies, but if I skip a week or two of participating in a hobby, my life will go on. The only things that I really feel a need to do on a regular basis is…go to work, eat, play candy crush, waste time on Facebook, sleep and seeing as I have had this blog for many years I should add blogging. Not sure if I would list any of those things as a hobby, but I know that I sure wouldn’t list them as my purpose in life. Can you immediately tell the difference between having a ‘passion’ and knowing your ‘purpose’ in life?

Filling a need shifts the focus from you to others. It shifts the conversation from what you like to do (having a passion or hobby) to how you can be a valuable contributor in helping society fills its needs (having a purpose).

Finding your passion could be easier than you think. By answering these questions honestly, you could work out what to do with the rest of your life.

“What subject could I read 500 books about without getting bored?”

“What could I do for five years straight without getting paid?”

“What would I spend my time doing if I had complete financial abundance to do anything?”

After all of my searching online, I still can’t tell you what my purpose in life is. I honestly can’t figure it out. Maybe everyone just isn’t lucky enough to have a purpose. Most days I seem to just go through the motions of living…more like just barely surviving.
I am on my weekend, where I have been binging on television and candy crush…basically just surviving until it’s time to start another week at my job.Oh there are a few things that I should be doing this weekend. #1 finish the valentine’s day wreath to hang in the EDR, #2 clean my room to get ready for housing inspection, #3 color my hair, #4 crochet baby blanket. So far I haven’t done any of it. I am the queen of procrastination and am wasting time doing nothing.
