I had 2 cups of coffee and opened a bag of pork rinds, before walking up to the post office. I didn’t get the package that I was expecting from Amazon. I got a message from Amazon saying that the package needs my signature, so I really hope that UPS driver doesn’t come by until I am at work today.
I traded my morning shift with one of the kids from Ecuador. She got a 2nd job at the local Mexican restaurant to work nights, so she needs to work the morning shift in our store. It will only be on Friday-Sunday, so I will keep my morning shifts on Monday and Thursday. The kid will only be here another month, and after that the boss said he will give me back all my morning shifts. I like going in for morning shifts better.
While I was in the store checking the mail, I did a little grocery shopping and bought another carton of eggs, a package of salad greens, cherry tomatoes, and more pork rinds. I don’t know what eggs cost in your store but in my store they are $3.19 for a dozen. We don’t have a variety of sizes either..it’s all 1 price for eggs. Yes I think $3.19 is expensive but I bought them anyways because I like eggs for breakfast. I did good…I skipped Starbucks today. I had their steak and egg wrap for breakfast couple days ago.
Anyways after walking back home, I made another cup of coffee and put 1/4 scoop of chocolate whey protein powder into it. I cooked 2 eggs in the microwave and also had some broccoli with cheese sauce. It’s about 11:30am now and I don’t have to be at work until 3pm. I doubt that I will be hungry by the time I leave for work.
It was cold and windy all last night. I had to dig the portable heater out of my closet to keep my room warm. One of the housemates turned the main heater for the house off. So it’s cold in the rest of the house when I got up this morning. I think our high temps for today will be around 40 degrees. So I know that by the time I get out of work tonight at 10pm, that I will want to grab a cup of tea.
For now my schedule looks like this:
I signed up for an unexpected trip to Walmart in Rapid City, the other night. So after grabbing a few food items I went to the entertainment/electronics department. It cost more than I expected and more than the 1 I found on Amazon. But it’s a bit bigger and has more storage then my old tablet.
My old tablet died while I was still in Vegas. I missed being able to do some things on the tablet that I can’t do on my outdated laptop…like play canasta, backgammon, and farm heroes saga. I also miss reading free e-books. I still remember when I got my first Kindle years ago, and my friend Kathleen told me all about free e-books. I have been hooked ever since.
I will have to write to amazon and explain that I have a different e-reader to see if I can download some of the same books I had before. This morning while trying to get fictional books about the Amish all I could get was a message saying that I already purchased the book. I also want the books by: Patricia Cornwall & Dean Koontz that I had before. Today I found 2 books by: Harper Lee that I must read. I went to a play here in South Dakota, last month, about her book “To Kill a Mockingbird “, and loved it. Now I must read the book, and Harper’s new one.
One nice thing about ebooks, is that you can read anything in public and nobody knows what you are reading. You can read trashy mind-numbing stuff all day long without hearing any comments about it being a waste of time. To be honest, what is your impression of someone reading trashy romance novels?
Some people like my brother like real books that you hold in your hand and turn a page. My brother built a library/office in his home and it’s actually 1 of my favorite rooms in his house. But I like e-readers too. With my lifestyle, it’s easier to carry thousands of books around in my purse on my tablet. I can travel easier with my e-reader then my brother can with his library.
Since I have been living here at the Grand Canyon National Park, you could say that I have gotten addicted to online shopping. Actually 1 of my brothers got me hooked on amazon during my first year here when he wanted me to send him books.
Now I am looking for stuff that I want to take with me to Alaska. Pretty sure this kindle will be my next big purchase. Than I can give all my regular books away. I might also get a couple accessories for my camera. And I got an email from amazon the other day telling that they will be shipping out my peanut butter soon. See, you can get anything from amazon…even food. In the past I have ordered instant oatmeal, portien powder, popcorn, lara bars, and even had food sent to my kids. Amazon makes it real convenient by shipping almost anything to my post office box or to the kids mailbox in New England.
Flagstaff is 90 miles away and cost $25+ each way on the shuttle…then you have to figure out the cost & time to get around town just to go shopping and possible end up spending the night in Flagstaff just to get everything done. I would much rather just sit at home and shop online. Usually everytime I go to Flagstaff, I always end up buying things I had not planned on out of boredom while strolling around the stores. A trip to Flagstaff always costs me lots more money then I wanted to spend, so I can save money by shopping online, even when you count in any shipping & handling fees.
