Spring Cleaning: Clothes Inventory

After coming home from McDonald’s on Wednesday, I decided to do my laundry. I wanted to go through all my clothes to see exactly what I had and what I hardly wear. I wanted to see if there were anymore clothes that I could get rid of. A couple weeks ago I took a small bag of clothes and left them at the laundromat in the campground near my home. It seems like a lot of campers don’t pack enough clothes for a camping adventure here.

Now the picture above^ is my clothes laid out on the spare bed in my room. Seeing as the new roomie still hasn’t shown up, I can use the bed as my table for folding laundry or just throwing my jacket onto when I am to lazy to hang it up right away, or in this case….for spreading clothes out on for a picture.

4 long sleeve shirts and 5 short sleeve shirts…another long sleeve top isn’t in the picture because I was wearing it. All of my shirts was given to me for free or I got them for a cheap price at thrift shops. When I am cold, I wear one of the long sleeve shirts under my work shirt. But not counting “work clothes”, 10 shirts is actually more than enough for me, and more then enough to keep in 1 dresser drawer. I can’t comprehend why anyone would think they need a different shirt for every day of the month. That’s just extra unnecessary laundry to do. Maybe some people get a strange thrill out of doing laundry.

The 3 pair of leggings I bought from Amazon…the wild looking purple designed pair are getting loose now, but I like them so I will save them for a couple more months. Even though I am on a diet hopefully I won’t have to get smaller clothes until Fall. The leggings get kept in my 2nd dresser drawer along with my socks, underwear, hats, gloves, and pajama pants that seemed to get cut off in above picture. I am also wearing a pair of gray sweatpants (or jogging pants…whatever you prefer to call them). It was windy and snowing, so I had to wear cold-weather clothes today.

With 1 or 2 days off work every week, I can usually do laundry at least once a week. If I do laundry at least once every 7 days, then I see no reason to own more then 10 shirts, especially when I can wear the same shirt all weekend. While walking home yesterday I stopped into the trading post…just to see what they had. In case a customer came into the store looking for an item that wasn’t in there, I would know where to send them to find it elsewhere. While I was there, I found a couple shirts that I liked. I didn’t buy any, because I knew that I had enough. I also knew that I didn’t want to start cramming clothes into drawers and making it impossible to see what was in the drawer.

If you are thinking…”but isn’t that the American dream?” Doesn’t everyone want to walk into a store or gift shop and just buy whatever they like? While I am glad that I can afford to buy whatever I really need, I don’t have enough space to spread things out so buying whatever I want seems rather dumb. Why waste money on something that will get crammed into the bottom of a drawer or stored into a box under my bed. I might as well just stuff my paycheck in a Box under the bed.

Usually if I am going to spend money, it will be on e-books or food. Ebooks get downloaded onto the tablet that I already own so I don’t have to make space in my room for them. Yes, I still have some books in my closet and as soon as I read them all then they will get dropped off in the laundromat. Right now, I am reading a novel called “The Independence Club”, written by: Rachel Ann Nunes.

Getting Ready For New Roommate

Someone from the housing office came over to the house last Tuesday, just before noon to tell me and Elsie that we would both be getting new roommates on Thursday.

Now I really have to kick my butt into gear and clean off the spare bed. Yeah, I have known that I needed to organize my stuff but I kept putting it off. I am the queen of procrastination, or as my ex-husband used to say…I live in the “Land of Later”, meaning I would do something/anything later…way later, like next week or next year.

Well my times up. Good thing I don’t have to be at work until Thursday morning. Looks like I will be cleaning on my weekend. The housing guy was nice enough to leave me a vaccum.

We have to share a closet here. The only clothes that I have in my half of the closet is my jackets and my work clothes. The rest are in my dresser drawers that is between the two beds. The small night stand near the closet in the above picture will also be used by both me and the new roomie. I have all my shower items and vitamins in the top drawer. I don’t keep anything in the bathroom because there are to many people sharing the bathroom and I don’t want anyone else using my stuff.

Well I finally got all my stuff organized and vaccumed the room before I went to work on Thursday morning. But then the new roomie never showed up. So for now I still have a room to myself. Today was Saturday , which means that the HR office is closed. So new employees won’t be able to check in for a couple days. So I get to relax in the room by myself for a bit longer.

It is now Tuesday again. There will be an employee appreciation BBQ at work. Seeing it’s my day off (after working 13.5 hours yesterday) I get to take random photos of everyone.

Another Weekend & Procrastination

It’s Thursday, which means I am on my weekend.

Yesterday my friends Ben & Cindy moved away. They are driving to Michigan and they left me some of their odds and ends that they did not want to pack. So now I need to re-organize my closet. I didn’t have much in it before, but having a laundry basket and a bag full of misc stuff just sitting in my closet will drive me crazy sooner or later.

Yesterday we also got quite a few new employees in orientation for the gift shop. They are from Taiwan. Luckily they speak English very well, and seem very eager to learn everything. It was strange & sorta funny walking into the TV room last night, with a room full of kids laughing, talking and getting ready to play some game called “Put & Take”. I never heard of the game and did not stay and watch them play.

My roomie has been sick and took yesterday and today off from work. Her weekend officially starts tonight but she will now end up with a 4-day weekend. I hav already seen the schedule for the 4th of July weekend and I am scheduled to work 9am-8pm. Hope I can last through that crazy weekend.

I am trying to be quiet in the room so she can sleep. Not sure if I can clean out my closet without making noise. Seeing as we did not get the rain as predicted for today, maybe I should go down to Keystone and just walk around for awhile. I will be sooo glad when I can order stuff for my camera and get pictures of that little town. But that would mean not cleaning my closet. But we all have to be good at something, and I am terrific at procrastination. My ex used to say I lived in the “Land-of-Later”, meaning I can do anything…only I will do it later, sometimes later is months away.

How I’m Spending My Late Night

Well I ain’t in school anymore, so I ain’t up studying for a test 🙂
Actually I am doing laundry, getting bags of trash ready to throw out and a couple other chores and obviously taking a break from all that to spend some time online now.

I have a brown travel bag and should see exactly how much clothes actually fit in it; so that I have a better idea of what I can bring to Alaska. Then maybe I can finally give the rest away. Which will save on doing laundry for the rest of the time I am here.
*EDIT* I think this brown bag just might work out fine…it holds more then I thought it would.

As usual when I am up late, I want to eat. Tonight I am eating saltine crackers with peanut butter. I even found a can of crushed pineapple. Now that should cure any cravings for something salty & sweet. It’s probably better then the usual junk I eat. Of course to wash it all down I’m making another small pot of coffee. I will have to go up to the general store later to buy more coffee, as I am running out.

Maybe I will try and see if the latest episode of “The Biggest Loser” is on hulu yet. From what I have read online this season is alot different then the few others that I have seen.

So far weatherbug is predicting temps in the 50’s for the rest of the week. We might get rain this coming weekend and maybe some more snow next Monday. Which is fine with me…maybe by then I will be down in Williams visiting Susan.

Clean-Up Day

I had requested today off from work because first I was going to go on a rec center trip to Sedona,AZ; then a couple co-workers asked if I wanted to go to Flagstaff with them. But I have now decided to just stay home and clean.

Realized that my frig is almost beyond help because somehow it got unplugged without me realizing it and who knows how long that it had been unplugged. So that will be a major job (well at least for me it’s major). I have now switched outlets to use for my frig so hopefully it doesn’t happen again.

While I am in the mood to clean, I should also re-organize all my food/pantry items and wash dishes. Then maybe I will go up to the store to some grocery shoppng seeng as am out of bread, peanut butter, fresh fruit and soymilk…and maybe will get some more birdseye frozen veggies.

I have also been checking out the recipes at >> http://www.skinnytaste.com/ and over at>>> http://greenlitebites.com/
so maybe I will buy stuff to make something from one of those sites.

Well seeing as I took a nap after work yesterday and then was rudely woken up about 9pm by loud people outside, I am still awake now at 12:30am. But I might as well take out the trash and organize all my magazines & books that I have laying around.

3 more weeks

Are you wondering what’s going on…what’s so special in 3 weeks? Well let me tell you because I am really excited about it. I am like a kid at Christmas-time and yes I am crossing days off my calender.

My 25 year old son is hopping on the Greyhound bus in NH on March 17th (day after my birthday), and should arrive in Flagstaff,AZ on March 20th. He will be moving up to the Grand Canyon. His new job won’t actually start until April 4th. He is getting here early so he will have time for hiking and just learning the ropes around the park.
Seems like I remember he used to like running (before he broke his ankle), so maybe he will get me in the habit of running, or just going to the gym.

Ok, so I have today & tomorrow off from work. I need to do laundry and organize my closet.  I’m sure I still have plenty of stuff in boxes that I can throw out in the trash…stuff I have not seen (used or needed) for a year. He has already sent me boxes of his stuff in the mail; so he won’t have to carry everything around the greyhound bus stations….which is why I need to get offline now and  re-organize my closet.

Well this morning I had a “naked juice-mighty mango” flavor that I had brought home from work yesterday. Well I won’t be getting them very often anymore. Even though it tastes good. I checked on the weight-watchers site and it seems that 1 whole bottle of juice is 8 points. That’s more points then what I normally have for a breakfast.

How do you fit it all in?

I know we all have the same 24 hours in a day; but sometimes I still don’t finish everything I am supposed to..or want to.

I got up early today and was checking online for info that a co-worker wanted on the American disability act seeing as my co-worker doesn’t own a computer, then I was checking emails & facebook for messeges from my son…and of course that always takes longer then I anticipated, then I check a list of blogs I like to read and a couple forum sites I signed up for.

As I type this, I’m sitting here with coffee & an apple smeared with peanut butter. I have to go jump in the shower soon so I can leave for work in an hour. By the time I get out of work, my feet and/or my back will probably hurt. But hopefully I remember to grab something from the salad bar to bring back home. (I left work yesterday without it).

I should really do laundry tonight but who knows if I will think of it then. I think I need a “to-do” list for just my normal everyday activities…and make sure to save all the stuff done on the computer for last. Activities like yoga, laundry, take out trash, shower, & eat has to be done first before I even turn the computer on. Course most of my yoga is from an online site or with DVD’s which means I have to turn laptop on in order to watch the DVD.

(will have to figure out WW-points for the peanut butter later…and I usually just guess at the amount of beans in my salad, when I am figuring out the points
